Date of Cover: 6th May 2018
This stamp was issued on 8th August 2017, 50 years on from the formation of ASEAN in 1967. ASEAN is the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
I like the bright design of this stamp. While the flower of the golden rain tree (Cassia fistula) is the national flower of Thailand, the tree itself is the national tree of Thailand (called ratchaphruek in Thai). They are often planted in lines along the roadside. When in flower, the trees turn bright yellow and are a great sight. From my own photos:
The cover was sent by registered post, indicated by the sticker below the stamp and additional charge of 13 baht.
Keep on Running
Although this cover is quite simple, I like it because of a personal coincidence. It was posted on 6th May at the Bangpakong Power Station in Chachoengsao province. On the same day, I ran a half marathon… at the Bangpakong Power Station.
