Stamps: Germany, November 2014

On my last trip to Germany this year, I collected the November issues, including 2 Christmas stamps: religious and nonreligious.

Christmas (Religious)

Stamps DE 2014-11-03 Christmas - Star of Bethlehem

The Star of Bethlehem

This is a charity stamp.

Christmas (Nonreligious)

Stamps DE 2014-11-03 Snowman

300 Years of the Fahrenheit Scale

Stamps DE 2014-11-03 300 Years Fahrenheit Scale

The Fahrenheit temperature scale was proposed by Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit. I wonder if Deutsche Post has got this anniversary wrong. Fahrenheit proposed his temperature scale in 1724. In 1714 – 300 years ago – he invented the mercury thermometer.

Commemoration of Julius Robert von Mayer’s Birthday – 200 Years

Stamps DE 2014-11-03 200 Years Birthday - Julius Robert von Mayer

Julius Robert von Mayer was a German physician who established the principle of the conservation of energy in 1842.

Energy can be neither created nor destroyed.
