The Machin Design
UK definitive stamps carry the profile of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The design was created by Arnold Machin in 1967 and is still in use today. UK definitives that bear this design are known as Machins. Alternative images (of the Queen) have been proposed over the years, but none were endorsed by the Queen and the Machin design endures.
